Almost four years ago, I visited Dr. Aidun in Toronto to talk about our shared Guyana experiences. After several more Zoom interviews I asked if I could share his stories. When he showed me his Rupununi diaries, they revealed accounts of surgical drama, challenging travel across a spectacular terrain, and a scattered and resourceful Indigenous community eager to learn.

That led to interviews with key players from around the world who were involved in the Bahá'í Community Health Partnership, and I met many more remarkable people during a three week visit to Guyana in 2023. The stories I heard fleshed out an enthralling journey of healing and transformation: for both Dr. Aidun and an inspiring Indigenous community.

As a pediatric surgeon, I've authored dozens of scientific papers, but this book has been a new kind of odyssey. I've appreciated the feedback from so many, and am excited and proud to be ready to share Ripples from the Rupununi with the world.

It's a good read, lots of pictures, and the most exciting stories are the present-day ripple effects of Dr. Aidun's Guyana sojourn. Let me know if you would like to pre-order a copy! (288 pages, Friesen Press, July 2025)
